On doing my own covers

It’s been fun doing my own covers. It is tedious, and trying at times. Creatively challenging and exciting, however. I’ve dusted off my photoshop skills (not that they were ever great in the first place) and am using my antiquated version of the program. It’s funny; in writing, my fingers are always moving across the keys, trying to get the images, dialog, and action down before I lose them. It is sometimes difficult keeping up with the characters (which is a good thing). Working on the covers is more about just sitting and staring at the screen and shifting text or images a fraction of an inch in one direction or another, or tediously clicking with the clone-stamp tool or whatever to modify some little aspect of the cover. Hours go by, in both cases, in the blink of an eye. And you’re exhausted! Most often it is a rewarding feeling of exhaustion, however.
